What you’ll do

A week on Harris & Lewis

If picture-postcard scenery, Caribbean beaches and rugged beauty at every turn is what you are looking for - this is the place to go in Scotland.

We've set out a week that gets you around the North and South of the island at a sensible place (island time is the best!)- allowing you to take in some of its best sights.

However, you can always tailor this itinerary based on a shorter time, or if you choose to stay in a different location. We'd always advise booking places early, as there aren't lots of places to stay on the island, and even the campsites book out fast.

Also, make the most of the big supermarket at Stornaway to stock up - there aren't lots of places to eat on the island to get food so packed lunches really pay off!

The truth is, whatever the weather, you can't not fall in love with this island and everything it has to offer.

Day One:

One of the easiest to book and most frequent routes on the ferry is from Ullapool to Stornaway. Check in at the ferry terminal and grab a bit at the seafood shack.

You'll likely arrive later into Stornaway so pick up supplies at the supermarket and make your way to your accommodation. Uig Sands, just under an hour away, is a great place for camping, or for amazing retreats like Hebrides House. It's one of the best spots to hole up for the week.
