Even if you don't plan to stay here, Hotel Moskva is one of those places that is worth visiting at least from the outside.
For more than a century, it has been one of Belgrade's most recognizable landmarks and a gathering place for locals, travelers, politicians, artists, and just about everyone in between. Walking inside feels like stepping into a different era, with much of the hotel's historic charm still intact 🏰
Of course, we had to try the famous Moskva Šnit cake. We had heard mixed opinions beforehand. Some people told us it was overrated, while others insisted it was a must-try.
Our opinion? Let it come to room temperature before eating it.
We noticed that the flavors became much more pronounced as the cake warmed up. The combination of cherries, almonds, and cream worked really well, and we genuinely enjoyed it 😌 And this comes from someone who used to make and sell cakes herself 🍰
That said, part of the experience is the setting itself. Sitting in a historic café, surrounded by elegant interiors and listening to live classical piano music, certainly doesn't hurt. Sometimes it's not just about the cake, but about enjoying a small piece of Belgrade's history while eating it.
