One of the coolest brutalist towers in Belgrade and probably the city's most iconic example of Yugoslav architecture 😲.
The Genex Tower looks impressive at any time of day, but if you can visit when the weather is gloomy or slightly rainy, even better. The atmosphere feels straight out of a movie, with the massive concrete structure dominating the skyline in a way that's both imposing and fascinating.
What many people don't realize is that there's also a cozy café located underneath the tower. We discovered it while visiting but had unfortunately just finished our morning coffee and burek elsewhere, so we didn't stop. From the outside, though, it looked like a place worth spending some time in.
Another interesting detail: we've noticed that there is at least one apartment inside the tower itself that you can rent out for your stay. If you're a fan of brutalist architecture or simply want a unique place to stay with views over Belgrade, it's worth checking Airbnb to see what's available.
Even if you're not an architecture enthusiast, the Genex Tower is one of those landmarks that helps explain why so many people become fascinated by Belgrade's Yugoslav-era buildings.
