On your way toward eastern El Salvador...

this historic bridge is a quick but worthwhile stop 🚗.

Puente de Oro stretches over the mighty Río Lempa (the longest river in the Central America) offering wide river views and a glimpse into the country’s past. The bridge dates back to the early 20th century and was once an important connection between regions.

Today, it’s a scenic roadside pause. You can stop briefly, take in the river landscape, snap a few photos, and appreciate the scale of El Salvador’s longest river below you.

Why stop here:
• Panoramic views over Río Lempa
• Historic landmark with civil war history
• Easy roadside photo opportunity
• A nice stretch break before continuing east
