On the way to eastern El Salvador, there’s a Shell gas station that has one of the most unexpected views in the country. Right in front of you rises San Miguel volcano, massive, dramatic, and impossibly close.

You’re literally filling up your tank while staring at a volcano.

It’s probably the only gas station in El Salvador with a view like this. Wide open sky, the perfectly shaped volcano in the background, and depending on the time of day, the light hits it in a way that makes it look almost unreal.
