Location:

Bridal Veil Falls is located in the Lemonthyme area of north-west Tasmania, close to Moina and Cradle Mountain. Access is via Dolcoath Road, turning onto Lemonthyme Drive — a steep, narrow, unsealed road that can be rough and slow in sections. Most vehicles can usually make the drive with care.

You should park at Lemonthyme Lodge, where the walking tracks to both Bridal Veil Falls and Champagne Falls begin.

Hike length:

Approximately 6 km return to Bridal Veil Falls or around 8 km return if you combine Bridal Veil Falls with Champagne Falls on the same hike. Expect 2–3 hours total, depending on conditions and how long you spend at each waterfall.

Difficulty Level:

Moderate–Hard — the track features uneven forest terrain, muddy patches, slippery roots and a few steeper climbs. Combining both waterfalls adds distance but creates a very rewarding rainforest walk.

Dogs allowed:

No, dogs are not permitted.

More information:

The trail to Bridal Veil Falls begins at Lemonthyme Lodge and leads you through beautiful temperate rainforest filled with giant tree ferns, mossy logs and dense undergrowth. Much of the track is straightforward to follow, with small creeks and mini cascades along the way offering great little photo stops.

Bridal Veil Falls is usually reached first if you’re doing the combined hike. The waterfall spills over a long, dramatic rock overhang, creating a wide, curtain-like drop that looks especially impressive after rainfall. A short, well-defined side track takes you to a wooden viewing bridge, giving you a fantastic front-on perspective.

From Bridal Veil Falls, you can continue along the same track to visit Champagne Falls, which adds a little extra distance and adventure. The path between the two waterfalls becomes steeper and more uneven, but the reward is a second stunning waterfall surrounded by lush rainforest.

Combining Bridal Veil Falls and Champagne Falls makes for a perfect half-day rainforest hike, showcasing two of Tasmania’s most beautiful and underrated waterfalls in one experience.
