How to get there:
From Burnie or Ulverstone, follow the Bass Highway and turn off into Penguin’s town centre. The beach sits directly opposite the main street, with plenty of free parking along the foreshore and easy access to the sand, parks, and cafés.

Yes — Penguin Beach is suitable for swimming, especially during summer when the water is calm and inviting. It’s a family-friendly beach, but always keep an eye on changing conditions.
Can you see wildlife there?
You can often spot seabirds and occasionally dolphins cruising past offshore. At dusk or dawn in certain seasons, you may even see little penguins in nearby nesting areas (not on the beach itself). Best chance to see penguins is in summer.
