Platypus Bay Circuit – A moderate 4 km loop along the lake’s shoreline, through forest and wetlands, offering excellent wildlife spotting opportunities. Duration: 1.5–2 hours. Level: Moderate.

Mount Rufus Summit – A challenging hike (14 km return) with steep sections and rocky terrain, rewarding hikers with panoramic views of Lake St Clair, the surrounding peaks, and the forested valleys. Duration: 5–6 hours. Level: Hard.

Possible Wildlife Sightings:

Lake St Clair National Park is rich in wildlife. Visitors may encounter Tasmanian devils, eastern quolls, Bennett’s wallabies, wombats, and echidnas. Birdlife includes green rosellas, yellow-tailed black cockatoos, and wedge-tailed eagles. Platypuses can sometimes be seen in the lake’s tributaries, especially at dawn or dusk.

    This “holiday” pass provides access to all Tasmanian national parks for up to two months from the start date. Prices may change, so check the official site before visiting.
