How to get there:

From Hobart, drive up Pinnacle Road toward the summit of Mount Wellington. The North East Viewing Platform is located along the access road before reaching the summit car park. There is a paved pull-off and parking area at the platform, with easy access to the viewpoint.

Hike length:

None — the viewpoint is accessible directly from the car park with a short paved path.

Difficulty Level:

Very easy — suitable for all visitors, including families and those with limited mobility.

Dogs allowed:

No — dogs are not permitted in areas managed by the Wellington Park Management Trust.

More information:

The platform provides panoramic 360-degree views over Hobart, the Derwent River, and surrounding valleys and mountains. It’s an excellent spot for sunrise or sunset photography, cityscapes, and spotting wildlife in the surrounding forest.

The North East Viewing Platform is ideal for a quick scenic stop while exploring Mount Wellington, and it pairs well with other attractions such as the Pinnacle Observation Shelter, kunanyi Summit Walk, and nearby bushwalking tracks in Wellington Park.
