Location:
Nelson Falls is located in Mount Field National Park, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Hobart via New Norfolk and Westerway. Access is via well-maintained sealed roads leading directly to the Nelson Falls car park, making it easy for all vehicles.
Hike length:
The walk to the falls is approximately 1.2 km return, taking around 20–30 minutes. The path is mostly flat, well-formed and easy to follow, with only a few steps near the main viewing platforms.
Difficulty Level:
Easy — suitable for families and most visitors. The track winds gently through lush rainforest, with boardwalks and clear signage.
Dogs allowed:
No — pets are not permitted in Mount Field National Park.

A valid parks pass is required for entry to Tasmania’s national parks. For example:
