One of the most iconic landmarks in Robe, the Obelisk has been standing tall since 1855. It was originally built as a day guide to help ships safely navigate into Guichen Bay, and while it no longer serves its original purpose, it remains a symbol of Robe’s maritime history.

Today, the Obelisk sits dramatically on a headland, surrounded by crumbling cliffs. You can’t get right up close because of the risk of collapse, but even from a distance it’s an impressive sight. Against the backdrop of the ocean and sky, it feels almost otherworldly, and it’s no surprise this is one of the most photographed spots in town hah.
