Kanda Shrine is one of Tokyo’s oldest and most prominent shrines, with origins dating back to the 2nd year of the Tenpyō Era (730 AD). It is located in the Soto-Kanda district and is widely known for its close proximity to Akihabara, a popular electronic shopping area. Kanda Shrine houses three major kami, Daikokuten, Ebisu, and Taira no Masakado, which are highly revered by locals. The shrine also plays host to two festivals, the Kanda Matsuri and the Daikoku festival, which draw thousands of visitors every odd year to honor the enshrined kami and enjoy traditional ceremonies and parades. For fans of the Love Live! anime, Nozomi Tojo serves as a shrine maiden at the Kanda shrine and features prominently in the show. Not to mention, visitors can even find talismans and charms specifically crafted to bless electronic devices. Kanda Shrine is a destination sure to surprise and delight both spiritualists and tech enthusiasts alike.
