KohChang is the largest and most popular of the islands in eastern Thailand. It is Thailand's third largest island but is nowhere near as developed or bustling as the two largest- Phuket and Samui. It is far less touristy and far less well-known. This means Koh Chang is definitely worth visiting if you want to avoid the crowds. There are some great beaches, a good range of accommodation and a wide choice of restaurants and bars. For photography, these are the most interesting places around the island:

  • Boat chalet (see above) is an abandoned resort with a beautiful beach. It's in fact a private property, I got kicked out by a guard, but I heard now they accept tourists if you pay 100 or 200 THB.

  • Bang Bao Pier is also a nice place for photos where you can visit the village on the pier.

  • White sand beach, Lonely beach and Klong Prao Beach are the best ones around the island.

  • You can also visit t h e Kai Bae Waterfall or check one of the many viewpoints around the island like Kai Bae Viewpoint. The island is very big, so the best is either to rent a motorbike or a car.

There's a good choices of restaurants and hotels around the island, and they provide so great photo spots too like Emerald Cove hotel. And if you want to talk about Thailand and photography, you can visit the restaurants of 2 very talented photographers: Filou Cocktail Lounge, and Oasis koh Chang, which can serve as a very chill co-working space and offers bungalows too.
