Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, otherwise known as the "Temple of a Million Bottles", is an impressive Buddhist temple located in Khun Han district of Sisaket province, Thailand. This innovative and sustainable structure was built using over 1.5 million recycled glass bottles, resulting in a gorgeous site that has earned it the nickname of a "Wilderness Temple of the Great Glass Pagoda". Fusing two types of bottles – green Heineken bottles and brown Chang beer bottles – monks began constructing this awe-inspiring temple in 1984 and completed it within two short years. Today, the complex consists of about 20 buildings (including the main temple, crematorium, and various prayer rooms) and continues to be an excellent example of how creativity can turn something seemingly discarded into something lasting and beautiful.
