Ine is a seaside village located in the northern area of Kyoto Prefecture, along the Sea of Japan. It is here that visitors can discover Ine's unique wooden boathouses, referred to as "Funaya", which have become highly renowned due to their unusual architecture. The bottom story of the house serves as storage for boat and fishing gear, with the top story comprising of the living quarters, making it look like the houses are floating on the bay. Funaya are seen as a designated Group of Historic Buildings, showcasing their importance in Japanese history. Visitors can also enjoy taking a boat cruise across Ine, where they can marvel at the beautifully preserved scenery; or alternatively, book tours to experience fishing, cycling, and learn more about this fascinating location.
