Wat Phan Tao is an amazing attraction in Chiang Mai, Thailand that is full of wonders. It is set in a compound with bright orange flags, and has an impressive prayer hall supported by 28 enormous teak pillars and lined with dark teak panels. Interwoven with this stunning backdrop is the graceful gold Buddha image that shines inside the hall. In addition, visitors to Wat Phan Tao can partake in the Visakha Bucha festival during May or June when monks light hundreds of butter lamps throughout its enchanting grounds. During Loy Khratong they build a platform and a river for the monks to perform the ceremony. They pray under a tree of lanterns in front of Buddha, launching the khratongs on the river and releasing sky lanterns in the air : Picture perfect!
