Bourke's Luck Potholes is a unique and captivating geological formation located in the Ehlanzeni region of South Africa. For years, the raging waters of two rivers have eroded away at sandstone bedrock, resulting in curious cylindrical formations that create an impressive network of tunnels and whirling pools. It is said that the potholes get their name from John Bourke, a prospector who staked a claim nearby in search for gold, only to be unsuccessful in his venture. Today, visitors can marvel at this strange yet beautiful landscape from the crags above, or explore the area on foot with the help of short walking trails and bridges. Don't forget to visit the small, but interesting geological museum too!
