Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon, also known as Wat Nong Wang, is a beautiful Thai royal temple located in Khon Kaen province. Established in 1811 by the ruler Thao Jammutra, this temple is a true representation of traditional Isaan culture and life. Wat Nong Wang houses an Isaan Museum which contains many rare ancient objects, as well as murals depicting the 35 prohibited rules of Isaan people's daily lives. On the 9th story of the temple lies a Buddha Hall which sets in the beautiful panoramic view of Kaen Nakhon marsh. If you are looking to explore some fascinating culture and architecture in Thailand, then add Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon to your must-visit list!
