Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve can be found above Franschhoek valley. You'll find a network of well-maintained trails winding through pristine fynbos, offering everything from gentle one-hour walks to challenging full-day treks. There was a fire that destroyed much of the vegetation (Jan 2026).

We hiked the Uitkyk Trail out-and-back, which takes about 3 hours. We would highly recommend making it a loop if you have the time (Uitkyk via du Toitskop & Manganese trail) or doing the Perdekop via Uitkyk trail, which is very challenging.
