The Takiroa Rock Art Shelter is a cool archaeological site with Māori rock art dating back to 1400-1900 AD. The drawings, made using ochre, bird fat, and charcoal, feature a mix of people and animals. It's a quick stop and short walk to see the rock art! Don't expect too much from it. It's just a fun little stop to stretch the legs!
