A scenic 40-minute drive from Queenstown's center brings you to The Remarkables, a mountain range famed for its dramatic peaks. In the winter, this place is a bustling ski resort, while summer makes for nice hiking. The Lake Alta track is a popular choice, offering a short and relatively easy hike to a stunning alpine lake. The trail starts at the Remarkables Ski Field parking lot and involves a steady uphill climb, with a mix of gravel paths and some rocky sections. Upon reaching Lake Alta, you’ll be treated to some really nice views of the pristine glacial lake.
