If you’re looking to fit in a section of the beautiful multi-day hike "Routeburn Track", we recommend starting here. From the shelter, it's possible to hike to the Routeburn Falls Hut and back. Keep in mind that the last 9 km of the road to the Routeburn Shelter car park is gravel and can be rough, so allow extra time for the drive.

• Difficulty: Intermediate, with a steady incline from Routeburn Flats to Routeburn Falls Hut.
