What to expect:
Hoan Kiem Lake is a calm green escape in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. It’s perfect for a relaxed walk, especially early in the morning when locals practice tai chi or after sunset. You’ll see the iconic Turtle Tower and the red Huc Bridge leading to Ngoc Son Temple. On weekends, the area becomes pedestrian-only and feels lively with street performances and local life. A great spot to experience Hanoi at a slower pace.
How to get here:
Find yourself an accommodation in the old quarter. Most of the tourist highlights are located there, and you can easily reach everything on foot.
Tip: You walk around the lake and it takes about 30 minutes with the kids. You can also treat yourself with a ice cream at Thuỷ Tạ Gourmet Gelato & Cafe.
