What to expect:

We didn’t do this boat tour ourselves, but here’s what you should know before going. Even though it’s quite busy and touristy, it’s still very beautiful and good value for money. Many boats are paddled with the rower’s feet, which is fascinating to watch and part of what makes the experience special.

Along the way, locals may try to sell flower bouquets, embroidered pictures, or paintings, and some boats have photographers offering photos for an extra fee.

The scenery is stunning, and the calm river ride through karst landscapes is truly lovely. Tickets cost 250,000 VND per person and takes about 2h.

If you only have time for one boat tour in the Ninh Binh area, we’d personally recommend Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve, as it offers even better value for money and a more local experience.
