Alpine National Park is a 646,000-hectare playground for outdoor enthusiasts, and though I had an amazing time exploring its stunning landscapes, there’s so much more to discover. I chose to do the razorback trail and have added it as its own 'Thing To Do', so check that out but I wanted to list a few other walks and things to do. If you’re heading there, check out these hikes and activities that I wish I’d had the chance to experience.

First up is the Baw Baw Plateau Circuit, a fantastic 10-kilometer loop that takes you through diverse alpine scenery. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Baw Baw Plateau, lush snow gum woodlands, and expansive heathlands. It’s a moderate hike that combines stunning vistas with a chance to spot local wildlife.

Another suggestion is the Howitt Plains Walk. This 14-kilometer return trail takes you through the remote and beautiful Howitt Plains. The hike offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and is a great spot for birdwatching and appreciating the tranquil beauty of the high country.

If you’re into scenic drives, check out the Mt. Hotham to Dinner Plain Drive. This route provides stunning views of the alpine landscape and is a great way to take in the beauty of the park without having to hike.

And if you’re a fan of high-altitude skiing or snowboarding, Mt. Hotham is a top destination in winter. The ski resort offers a variety of runs and facilities, and even if you’re not into skiing, the snow-covered landscape is a sight to behold.

Though I didn’t get around to these activities, Alpine National Park is an outdoor paradise that caters to all types of adventurers. From exhilarating hikes to stunning drives and winter sports, it’s a place where nature’s beauty truly shines.
