The (Galbenei) Yellow gorge is a stunning natural wonder that cuts deep into the mountain, creating one of the most monumental gorges in Romania. There are landscapes with hundreds of meters of rock walls, natural arches and caves with entrances that open in the middle of the walls.
The water has created waterfalls, huge potholes and several underground tunnels which give this region a feeling of unmatched wilderness.
Going through the gorge means also overcoming some difficult areas, 3 passages equipped with steel cables for hands or feet. Their lengths vary from 20 to 100 meters. These sections are quite hard to cover because the humidity of the valley makes the rock and the cables slippery.
If you come during the hot summer months you can even take in consideration to cool down in the freezing water pool, at the base of the big waterfall.
Galbenei gorge is a hidden gem that showcases the best of Romania's natural landscape.
