The hidden village of Galboly is one of County Antrim’s best-kept secrets, tucked high on the slopes of the hills above Glenarm and the Antrim Coast Road. This deserted clachan, or small farming settlement, offers a fascinating glimpse into rural life from centuries past. The stone cottages, now roofless and covered in grass, sit quietly among the rolling fields with views that stretch out to the sea. Walking through Galboly feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by the echoes of a once-thriving mountain community.
The village was abandoned in the early 20th century, and nature has slowly reclaimed it, adding to its quiet, haunting beauty. It is reached by a steep, scenic path that rewards visitors with both history and breathtaking views. Galboly remains largely untouched and rarely crowded, making it a perfect stop for those seeking a more hidden, authentic side of the Antrim Glens.
Note: Not all buildings are original and some has been added for film set purposes but I still think it adds to the character and charm of the little hamlet
