I was honestly unsure whether to include this little spot in the guide – simply because I don’t know if people might start spending their holidays here in the future.
It’s a beautiful little waterhole I only recently discovered, even though I’ve been to Würzjoch quite a few times before. It’s just a short 5–10 minute walk from the main parking area: walk past the Hotel Ütia de Börz and follow the road. At the very end, you’ll see a small house that looked abandoned when I visited.
However, there was a small construction site nearby, and the house seemed like it might be renovated soon – possibly to be used as a holiday home or for tourist rentals.
If that happens and people do start staying there again, please respect their privacy – and in that case, visiting the little pond won’t be possible. I really hope everyone treats this place with care and responsibility so that no one is disturbed.
That said, if you walk across the large meadow nearby, you’ll find a few other small waterholes. The ground feels a bit like moorland, and especially after rain, you can discover little puddles with beautiful mountain reflections – just watch your step, because you might end up with wet feet! 😄 -->if you can't visit the waterhole because its now private watch out in this area for some smaller waterholes: look here
Either way, definitely make sure to visit Würzjoch itself – in my opinion, it’s always worth the trip.
P.S. If you want to save on parking fees: after 2 PM, parking at Würzjoch has been free for the past few years.
