Laugarvallalaug‏ Natural Thermal pool is a true oasis in the middle of nowhere. Close to the ruins of the deserted Laugavellir Farm there is a geothermal stream that flows into a warm little waterfall, falling into a small pond at the bottom of it, namely Laugavallalaug‏ Natural Thermal pool. There the stream has been dammed, turning the warm water into a perfect pond for bathing, with the waterfall itself serving as a shower. Please remember to check the water before diving into it, since it might at times be a little too warm.

For this location, starting near Hengifoss, you'll drive down 910, go over the dam and to the end of the road, make a right onto F910, a dirt road, and when you come to a 4 way dirt intersection in 2 km, make a left. Go thru the river or park just before the river and hike the last 400m. Once you pass the dam, the road to Laugavellir is an F-Road which means that only 4x4 vehicles are allowed. F-Roads are only open in summer, sometimes not even until July. You can check road conditions and closures at road.is.

If you want to play it safe and be in a well-equipped, photogenic car, then you should rent an old-school Land Rover Defender from www.isak.is equipped with a snorkel. This helps ensure you don't drown the engine while crossing a river. Use the code "gunnar" for renting your Defender on a special price.

Tips on river crossings: https://epiciceland.net/icelandic-rivers-how-to-cross/. Make sure to go with the stream (diagonal across the river in the direction of the flow). Do not drive against the stream, but let the flow of the river help you cross.
