Summer 2023: On July 10th 2023, the Litli-Hrutur volcano on Reykjanes Peninsula erupted in spectacular fashion, sending ash and smoke high into the atmosphere for all to witness.Nature lovers were delighted to experience the scenery first-hand with hiking tours available to view the eruption from close quarters. There is no exact timeline for when the eruption will cease, making this a truly unique experience that could stop at any time. Those lucky enough to have experienced the unique power of nature in action leave knowing they had seen something special that not many others had witnessed.

I recommend going to the P2 parking lot and doing the E hiking route. make sure to wear good boots and bring plenty of drinks and snacks!
