Stuðlagil is located in East Iceland and is a most see if you're in the area. Epic basalt rocks frame the Jökuls á glacier river with stunning blue water. Make sure to go to the southeast side of the river so you can walk all the way down into the canyon. If you are traveling with young kids, have limited mobility, or are short on time, go to the viewing platforms on the west side, here. The views are not quite as spectacular and you cannot go down into the canyon to step on the rocks but there is no hiking required on the west side.
