Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic destinations, combining lush rainforest, white-sand beaches, and incredible wildlife all in one place. Located about 3 hours (170 km / 105 miles) from San José, it’s a popular and easy trip from the capital. The park is famous for its abundant wildlife — you can often spot sloths, white-faced capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, iguanas, raccoons, and colorful tropical birds along the well-maintained trails. Visitor numbers are limited each day and tickets must be purchased online in advance, and the park is closed on Tuesdays, so plan ahead. There is no official parking directly at the entrance; instead, private parking lots line the road leading to the park, and it’s best to arrive early in the morning to secure a spot and avoid crowds and heat. Inside, you’ll find scenic viewpoints, easy hiking trails, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, including Playa Manuel Antonio and Playa Espadilla Sur. Bring water, sunscreen, and essentials, as food sales are limited and certain plastics are restricted. If you’re looking for an accessible rainforest experience with stunning beaches and guaranteed wildlife sightings, Manuel Antonio National Park is a must-visit in Costa Rica.

TIP: PLEASE DONT FEED WILDLIFE! ALSO, PLASTIC BOTTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED, SO A RECYCLABLE BOTTLE IS BEST.
