🍸 Els Quatre Gats: My Favorite "Pinch Me" Moment
See more here!
If you want to feel like you’ve stumbled into a movie set (or just want to escape the madness of the main streets), you have to find Els Quatre Gats.
It is tucked away down this little alley in the Gothic Quarter, and honestly, finding it feels like you're being let in on a secret. The whole place screams moody aesthetic; it’s housed in this incredible modernist building that was actually a hangout for Picasso back in the day.
The Vibe: It’s split into two parts: a bustling café/bar area in the front and a stunning full restaurant in the back. It manages to feel totally authentic without being a tourist trap, which is rare for a spot this famous. It’s chaotic in the best way possible: full of history, art, and life.
What You’re Eating (And Drinking!): The food is great, but let’s be real...we’re here for the ambiance and the drinks. You need to order the Cocktail Espresso Martini. It’s basically a coffee dessert dream in a glass. They even make some of the cocktails and dishes tableside, which adds a little bit of theater to the meal.
My Tip: Because it’s a legend, it gets busy. Reservations are usually a must if you want to be safe. But, if you’re spontaneous (or just forgot to plan, like me), I’ve had luck just walking in during the week or showing up a bit early on weekends.
It’s one of those spots where you just sit back, sip your martini, and think, Okay, life is pretty good.
