🏛️ El Born Cultural Center: The Past Beneath Your Feet

Okay, usually when someone says "cultural center," my eyes glaze over. But this place is genuinely cool (and I don't just mean the air conditioning, though that is a huge plus in the summer).

It’s housed in this massive, stunning 19th-century iron market hall: think "Eiffel Tower vibes" but for vegetables. But the real surprise is what’s inside. When they tried to renovate it, they dug up an entire neighborhood from the 1700s that was destroyed by King Philip V. Instead of covering it up, they preserved it. So you walk into this gorgeous building and look down at the actual streets and houses of medieval Barcelona.

My Tip: You don’t need to buy a ticket! Entrance to the building is completely free. You can walk the perimeter, look down at the ruins from the balcony, and use their (very clean) bathrooms without spending a euro. It’s my favorite pitstop to cool down and feel smart before heading to a wine bar.
