Bassin Pichon is a little-known spot tucked in the green backcountry above Saint-André. The hike to get there winds through a humid forest, where roots and moss make the ground slick, but the air stays cool and heavy with moisture. The basin itself is quiet, clear, and framed by basalt walls. It's a peaceful reward at the end of a shaded walk.

It’s a popular spot with local hikers who know the trail, but rarely see tourists. You won’t find signage or infrastructure, so good shoes and a downloaded map are essential. The water’s swimmable in the dry season, but as always in Réunion’s rivers, you need to be cautious of rain upstream.

👉 Ask locals near Chemin Pichon before heading in. The access is unmarked, and they’ll often point you to the safest entry path.
