The Seltún Geothermal Area, located in the Reykjanes Peninsula, is a wonderful spot and a bit of a hidden gem geothermal spot in Iceland. It's located close to the airport and the Blue Lagoon and is one of the top spots to visit on the peninsula.
You can walk over the boardwalks, through clouds of sulfur-smelling steam, and admire the bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, and vibrant mineral deposits that create a colourful landscape.
You can climb up the steps to the viewpoints and then return after completing a loop of the area. It's a great place for those who love to explore unique geological features and soak in the stunning scenery. Plus, the contrasting colours of the earth against the backdrop of the rugged Icelandic landscape make for some pretty amazing photos.
