What it’s really like:
Paradise Taveuni Resort is one of my favourite hidden gems of Fiji.
It's famous as a dive resort, taking guests to the world-famous Rainbow Reef.
Upon arrival, you are greeted with refreshments and a foot scrub to wash all your worries away.
I'm not a diver, but I found the snorkelling exceptional with the staff.
The food was exceptional, local and fresh, grown from their very own farm across the road. You can also get a tour of the farm and the produce. Not to mention their famous on-site bakery, which is popular with both locals and guests. You'll get to sample their items during your stay. Make sure you include a sunset dinner at the watersedge.
The grounds are immaculate and picturesque, with plenty of quiet places to snooze in a hammock or indulge in an open-air (but private) massage.
There's a waterfront pool, perfect for relaxing after excursions, especially with a cocktail.
Other than the bakery, there are no shops close by, but you don't really need anything extra, to be honest.
The rooms are beautifully furnished, all with air conditioning, indoor and outdoor bathrooms. They have so many small touches: an outdoor footbath to wash away the sand, a rack for wet things, homemade biscuits, cold filtered water, etc.
If you're going to stay here, give yourself at LEAST 4 nights. This is if you only factor in diving/snorkelling and relaxing.
Taveuni MUST do:
Tavoro/Bouma waterfalls
Lavena Coast walk and waterfall
Waitavala natural waterslide (the locals make it look SO easy)
