Kuertunturi Fell is a must-visit spot near Äkäslompolo in Lapland, especially during the summer & winter months. Kuer is not the highest fell, but still rising to 446 meters. The scenery rewards the climber and I recommend the route if a slightly rockier path feels natural to you. From Kuer you can easily see all the most important nearby fells, with a horizon stretching all the way to Pallas. There's not really a marked path to the top, so you need to be comfortable hiking and finding your way to the top. The summer trail starts from the Kuerkievari yard, where unfortunately you cannot park during the hike. We hiked and stayed the night on top with hammocks. What a beautiful experience this was! Just don't forget the mosquito repellant!
The Winter Trail starting at the chapel leads you to the top with marked snowshoeing trails, offering a stunning view.
