If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll be pleased to know that Tunisia has some of the most iconic film spots for this movie series. In fact, George Lucas was so inspired by Tunisia that he named his iconic planet Tatooine after an entire area of Tunisia called Tataouine (pronounced exactly the same). Whilst not necessarily located in this region of Tunisia, one of the main Star Wars sites you’ve got to see is Mos Espa (in Ong Jemel—just a short drive away from Tozeur), the best-preserved Star Wars set in Tunisia. The best part? There’s no entry fee. It’s completely free to roam as you please! You can wander through the preserved buildings of this spaceport settlement in George Lucas’s fictional Tatooine and live out your Star Wars fantasies. That’s what we did!
