This swimming pool is definitely a hidden gem in the Westfjords of Iceland. It's like swimming in a giant hot tub, thanks to the warm outdoor geothermal water that fills the 50 x 12.5-meter pool. It's heated by self-running hot geothermal water so it stays hot all year around. There's also an old green steam bath aside the pool and in the swimming pool, there are underwater benches. There are dressing rooms right next to the pool with showers.

Swimming pools are an integral part of Icelandic culture and has been ever since people started gathering in natural hot springs in the past. It's where people meet an talk about everything from the weather to politics. Entering one of those pools is really the easiest way to immerse yourself in the local culture.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A swimming pool in Reykjanes, Westfjords.

  • Best season: Any! But opening hours might be limited during winter.

  • Opening hours: Please check the website.

  • Nice to know: There's also a hotel and restaurant right next to the pool.
