What to expect:
A hidden gem tucked away in Indonesia’s beautiful Lombok region.

While most travelers heading to the Gili Islands think of Trawangan, Air, or Meno, we took a different path and found something truly special: Gili Asahan.

Just a short 5-minute boat ride off Lombok’s southwest coast, Gili Asahan is a charming little island with crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and quiet beaches that invite you to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature. It’s the perfect getaway for anyone looking to escape the crowds and experience a more authentic, tranquil side of island life.

We stayed at the beautiful Giliasahanecolodge, a place that embodies sustainability, simplicity, and heartfelt hospitality. What made our stay even more magical? The rescued horses that roam freely around the island. ✨🐴🏝️

These eight gentle souls, lovingly cared for by the eco-lodge, live in harmony with nature - healthy, well-fed, and free to roam. You can take a peaceful walk with them on the beach or even join them for a swim in the shallow waters. No riding, no pressure - just calm, respectful interaction. Our kids loved it!✨

Snorkeling, diving, horse swims, and island serenity - Gili Asahan offers all this and more, wrapped in a laid-back vibe that’s impossible not to fall in love with. Add in the warmth of the local community, and you’ll feel right at home on this little slice of paradise. 🌿🐢🪸

How to get here:

There are two main ways to get here from Bali.

Let’s start with the cheap option, that we took, first:

Slow Ferry: Padangbai to Lembar Port (5h/75k IDR p.P.) and than rent a scooter or hire a Driver to Kepo Beach (2h/400k), from there pick-up from Ecolodge (5min/free)

The fast way:

Take the speedboat from Serangan (Bali) to Gili Gede (via Nusa Lembongan) (2h/960k IDR p.P.) and then Boat taxi Gili Gede to Gili Asahan (20min/400k IDR p.P.)
High season: Mo, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat
Low season: Mo, Wed, Fri

Please note: Sometimes the fast boat passes through the Northern Gilis, which may result in a longer travel time.
