Fulufjället National Park is a dramatic landscape of bare mountain plateau, deep forests, and rushing rivers. The park is most famous for Njupeskär waterfall, Sweden’s highest at 93 meters, where the water drops down a sheer cliff surrounded by wild nature.
Besides the waterfall, Fulufjället is home to the world’s oldest tree, Old Tjikko, a spruce that has stood here for nearly 10,000 years.
A visit to the park isn’t complete without stopping by the Naturum visitor center. It's a beautiful building where you can learn more about the trails, wildlife, and nature of the area. Just across from Naturum you’ll also find a cozy café, perfect for grabbing a coffee or some food before or after your hike.
The park offers plenty of hiking options, from easy walks to longer treks across the plateau with wide, open views, rocky terrain, and peaceful silence. My personal favorite is the Jaktfalksleden, a scenic 6 km trail.
All around the park there are fireplaces stocked with wood, where you can make a small campfire or grill your food. Just remember to bring your own kindling to get the fire started.
