Fettjeåfallet is a beautiful waterfalls and also one of my absolute favorites. Located just outside the mountain village of Ljungdalen in Härjedalen, the waterfall drops an impressive 60 meters in two stages, surrounded by dense forest and dramatic cliffs.
The hike to Fettjeåfallet is about 2 km one way, following a well-marked trail through spruce forest and along the stream. Sherpas have built stone stairs that take you almost all the way to the top of the waterfall, making it easier to enjoy the powerful views up close.
At the base of the falls you’ll also find a fireplace with a fantastic view towards the waterfall, the perfect spot to grill some food and enjoy a picnic. Firewood is provided, but the woodshed is about 1 km before the grill area, so make sure to bring an extra bag to carry it easily. Don’t forget your own kindling to get the fire started.
In winter, the waterfall freezes into a wall of ice, making it a popular spot for ice climbing.
