If you’re looking for that raw Swedish archipelago feeling, Stendörren Nature Reserve is such a good place to go. Suspension bridges connect a series of small islands, so within minutes of leaving the car park, you’re already out on the rocks, surrounded by water, forests, and those smooth granite cliffs Sweden does so well.

There are a few well-marked trails to choose from. The 3.5 km Äspskär trail is an easy and really beautiful option, but if you want to spend more time out there, the 9 km loop takes you across a bigger part of the reserve and feels a bit more adventurous.

In summer, it’s a perfect spot for a swim. The water is clear, and there are plenty of nice places to get in. You’ll also find several barbecue areas along the way, but it’s a good idea to bring your own firewood, especially during busy periods, as it’s not always available.

It’s a popular place in both summer and winter, and for good reason. It’s one of those spots where you can easily slow down and just enjoy being out in nature.

Check the map of Stendörren here. On this map you'll see the hiking trails, fire places and other places of intrest. Swedish only.
