Fatmomakke kyrkstad is a unique cultural site where Sami traditions and Swedish settler history meet. Around the wooden church, you’ll find a mix of old Sami kåtor (traditional huts) and settlers’ log cabins, showing how people from different backgrounds gathered here for church services and markets.

There’s also a small museum where you can learn more about the site, and a café if you’d like to stop for a coffee or snack.

If you’re traveling with a camper, you can stay overnight at the campsite or use the parking lot next to the site. With the lake and surrounding mountains as a backdrop, it’s a beautiful and convenient place to pause on your trip.

Visiting Fatmomakke gives you a real sense of how life looked here in the past, and it’s a great stop if you’re interested in culture and history along the Wilderness Road.
