Ankarende Church Town is Sweden’s southernmost church town still in use during events like Midsummer. Surrounding the small white chapel are both traditional cottages and numerous Sami huts (Kåta).

Back in the day, Sami people and settlers would travel here by foot or boat to attend church services, weddings, baptisms, and funerals.

There is a small museum that offers a glimpse into the town’s history. In summer, there is a cozy café open for refreshments.
