Roper Lake State Park

Directions

If you go to Roper Lake State Park you’ll find a small, spring-fed lake that’s best for swimming, shore and boat fishing, and paddling—think kayaks, SUPs, or boats with small electric motors rather than big outboards. The park has a developed campground with basic hookups, reservable cabins, restrooms and showers, and a shaded picnic area, so you can camp or stay in a cabin without roughing it. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat because summers get very hot and monsoon storms can roll in with afternoon lightning, and know that cell service and some supplies are easier to get in nearby Safford. Expect a day-use fee and make campsite or cabin reservations in advance for weekends and holidays.
