The MV Plassy, formerly known as HMS Juliet, was a cargo ship that met its fate in 1960 when it ran aground during a storm off Inisheer. The ship was carrying whiskey, stained glass, and yarn at the time. Luckily, the crew was rescued by local islanders using a breeches buoy. The wreck of the Plassy can still be seen on the shoreline and is a popular tourist attraction, famously featured in the opening credits of the TV show Father Ted. A must-see while visiting the smallest of the Aran Islands!
