The Arapuni Suspension Bridge is a bit off the beaten path, but if you’ve got time and are cruising through NZ at a slow pace, it’s a pretty sweet detour. Built in 1925, this 152-meter-long bridge was originally used by workers heading to the Arapuni Power Station, now it’s just a cool spot to take in some epic views of the Waikato River gorge.

Don’t let the nickname “Arapuni Swing Bridge” fool you, though it’s a proper suspension bridge, and while it does have a little sway, it’s nothing crazy. The park around it is also a great place to chill, stretch your legs, or stop for a picnic before hitting the road again. Definitely a cool little stop if you're in the area.
