This waterfall is a sweet little stop along your road trip if you’re keen to get a dose of nature! From the carpark, it’s an easy 400-meter walk to the lookout, and voilà, you’re there! You can’t actually get down to the base of the falls, so it’s all about soaking in the view from above, looking down on the big pool and cascading water.
When I visited, I didn’t see a soul, so it felt extra peaceful and tranquil with just the sounds of the forest around. Once you’re done taking it all in, you could head straight back to the carpark, but honestly, I’d recommend doing the Taheke Waterfall Track. It’s a super family-friendly trail that adds up to a nice extra 2.8 km loop through lush greenery.
Keep an eye out for cute little paintings on the side of the wooden stairs I spotted a fairy house and some mushrooms that were just adorable! Totally worth adding the walk for those extra steps and a bit more time in nature.
